The End of Eddy is a novel about growing up in a small industrial town in the north of France, a town without mercy, where the surroundings knock down everything that is different. Eddy, who later becomes Édouard tries to get through the violence of peers, family, through the structural violence - poverty that radically characterises his existence. At first glance, this is an autobiographical novel but the undertone is always political. It tackles the topic of being underprivileged in a social, cultural, sexual and economical sense.

Édouard Louis (1992) is one of the world’s most important writers who were born in the 90’s; a French wonder boy whose literary debut The End of Eddy has already been translated into more than 30 languages. It is followed by two novels which were also very well received worldwide. History of Violence has also been revived on stages (premiered at Schaubühne Berlin 2018, directed by Thomas Ostermeier) all over the world. What Didier Eribon did for theory and Xavier Dolan did for film, Édouard Louis did for contemporary literature. Politically precise, intellectually convincing and emotionally astounding.
