Ludwig van Beethoven, Symphony No.7 in A Major, Op.92
An orchestra with a history spanning more than a century (1907) and the driving force behind the musical life in Beethoven's birthplace, a recipient of the coveted European Culture Prize and holder of the title United Nations Climate Change Ambassador (2021). In 2017, Dirk Kaftan was appointed the orchestra's Music Director, thus joining a long line of prominent conductors (Richard Strauss, Max Reger, Paul Hindemith...) who played a pivotal role in shaping this musical ensemble throughout the past century. Beethoven’s Egmont, Maestro Kaftan’s first production with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, was awarded the OPUS KLASSIK in 2020.
The orchestra has built a richly varied repertoire, ranging from opera to symphonism, from early to contemporary music. The carefully devised programme will undoubtedly appeal also to Ljubljana audiences: Con Brio by one of the most performed living composers, Jörg Widmann, pays tribute to Beethoven's Seventh, and the soloist in Mendelssohn's violin concerto is Daniel Lozakovich, a virtuoso who signed an exclusive contract with the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon soon after his 15th birthday, thus asserting himself as the youngest member of the label's roster.
