A historical meeting of two legendary new Slovenian folk music bands. So far, the groups only met onstage in 2008, while taking part in the unparalleled Slovenian Music Festival at the prestigious New York City Hall. Although often using the same national folk song material, each of the bands makes entirely different arrangements. Nevertheless, common links can still be found in the brilliantly reconceptualized adaptations with two amazing female vocalists leading the way. The groups’ concert repertoires will include “the best of” their astounding songbooks, the most popular tracks on their numerous albums that have reshaped this century’s national musical landscape. Are we in for a surprise at the end of the evening?
