Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
The defining characteristics of Needcompany’s artistic work are socially engaged themes and an approach treading the fine line between theatre and performance art, between music, drama, and documentary theatre. Created under the artistic direction of its founder, Jan Lauwers, the company’s work displays organic coherence, an almost casual approach. Not shying away from provocation, it is a thought-provoking theatrical experience both with reference to its dramatic visual effect and thematic content.
All the good is a fictional self-portrait interwoven with autobiographical elements. On the one hand, there is the life of an Israeli elite soldier and war veteran and, on the other, Lauwers’ with his wife and their children in their family house, an old bakery in the infamous district of Molenbeek. It is also a story of a young girl Romy who meets an Israeli soldier while on a journey to China. This meeting changes her life.
All the good is about loss and hope. A love story at a time in which Europe is sacrificing its values and masses of people are succumbing to hate and incomprehension.
