Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
The 39th Vilenica International Literary Festival raises a number of relevant and important issues related to the challenges that AI creates for humanity and literature.
Whenever humanity is confronted with a new technology that is fundamentally changing the ontological nature of a sphere of activity or work, we react in two predictable and predictably opposite ways. The adherents of Technoromanticism attribute an omnipotent, redemptive power to technology, which is supposed to solve all our problems, as well as improving, democratising and simplifying work. Technophobes, prophets of doom, see technology as an evil that will destroy 'our way of life', subject a sphere of activity to totalitarian control and abuse, and rob it of its meaning.
This year’s 39th, pre-anniversary edition of the Vilenica Festival will face the AI challenge by seeking to navigate between the two extremes: idealisation and fear.
Detailed programme to be announced shortly.
