Congress Organizers From All Over the World at CD in 2024

In 2024, Slovenia is hosting a high-profile Annual Meeting and General Assembly of the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers – IAPCO 
At the 53rd IAPCO Annual Meeting and General Assembly, held between 6 and 9 February 2023 in Jerusalem, Israel, Cankarjev dom, as the only Slovenian member of this international organization, succeeded in its bid as the host for the next edition. The event was attended by CD’s Congress and Commercial Programme Director Breda Pečovnik, MSc, CD’s Client Acquisition Manager Dušica Todorović, MSc, CD’s Congress and Commercial Programme Senior Manager Alenka Kregar, and the Managing Director of Ljubljana Tourism Petra Stušek, MSc. 

After a strong bid, IAPCO entrusted Cankarjev dom with the task of hosting its most important event – the Annual Meeting and General Assembly – in late February 2024. The Association sets global meetings industry standards, and the event is thus of paramount importance to Slovenia. Cankarjev dom first hosted the meeting two decades ago. In 2024, we are anticipating a turnout of 160 meetings industry experts from all over the world.

Cankarjev dom has outlined the entire proposal, including the scientific programme and social events, under the watchful eye of the Association's Expert Committee. In addition to the event’s red thread, which focuses on papers by a variety of leading authorities, CD seeks to stress the authenticity of green Slovenia and sustainable development. The slogan of the event is: Be the Flow (Aware, Responsible, Smart).

The delegates will be provided with the best of what Slovenia has to offer in sports, culture and science. This event could not have been possible without the collaboration and support of some of the key players in Slovenian tourism: the Slovenian Tourist Board and its Director, Maja Pak, MSc, Ljubljana Tourism with the Slovenian Convention Bureau and Managing Director Petra Stušek, MSc, Bled Tourism with Director Blaž Veber, and Sava Hotels.
