Founded in 1946, the Bamberg Symphony, a Central European orchestra of distinct Czech-German pedigree, traces its history back to the one-time German Philharmonic Orchestra Prague. With the Czech Jakub Hrůša, the fifth principal conductor since 2016, a bridge has been built again between the historical roots of the Bamberg Symphony and its present day. Hrůša will take up the post of Music Director of London’s Royal Opera House in 2025. The finely attuned and inspiring partnership, which gives the orchestra its distinctive timbral qualities, is echoed in numerous accolades, including the 2023 ICMA International Classical Music Award for Symphonic Music.

One of the most sought-after pianists of the last decade, Grammy Award-winning Daniil Trifonov, returns to Ljubljana as a soloist with the orchestra. The programme – Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (the famous Caprice No. 24) – will showcase Trifonov’s consummate technique, his interpretive acumen combined with rare sensitivity and depth. Beethoven's arguably most serene symphony and Janáček's thrilling, passionate and unpredictable orchestral rhapsody complete an internationally flavoured repertoire that reflects the orchestra’s national diversity.
