Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
As the 30th anniversary season of the Golden Series is drawing to a close, a new edition of our international series is right around the corner. We have taken great care in creating it, bringing together values that we believe can complement and enrich our everyday lives, and that resonate in a meaningful way with you, dear music lovers, and with your hopes for artistic experiences. We remain adamant in our desire to devise a rich, world-class programme that echoes the trends and developments on the world's concert circuit.
The guest orchestras, representing various European musical traditions, are touring with gems from the classical symphonic canon and exciting artistic performances. The Golden Season Series brings together some of the most acclaimed musical figures of our time.
The series opens with the Bamberg Symphony, featuring the superb pianist Daniil Trifonov, under the baton of Principal Conductor Jakub Hrůša, whose glittering international career was recently crowned with the appointment as Music Director of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra will make its Slovenian debut in the company of two brilliant musicians: the South Korean conductor Shiyeon Sung and her compatriot, Bomsori Kim, currently one of the world’s most sought-after violinists. The star cellist Gautier Capuçon returns to Ljubljana with Michael Sanderling, the prominent and versatile Principal Conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. Violinist and internet celebrity Ray Chen, a herald of a new generation of classical musicians whose global reach has inspired millions of music lovers, will perform with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and the thrilling Norwegian conductor of the younger generation, Tabita Berglund. After a hiatus of ten years, we again look forward to hosting the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, this time with the Grammy award-winning Gil Shaham, a brilliant violinist and sought-after guest of the most prestigious venues, and Maestro David Robertson, a conductor of universal renown. Closing the orchestral series in a thrilling finale is the Residentie Orkest from The Hague, enriched by the musical partnership of two rising stars, pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason and conductor Ruth Reinhardt.
